A Bit About Us

I’m Dr. Sobia Khalid, founder and CEO of Sobia Pathology . I’m joined in this venture by my colleague Dr. Noorus Saba Khan, co-founder and CFO. Together, we lead this company with a shared vision: to deliver cutting-edge remote telepathology reporting and consulting services to research institutions, survey organisations, and emerging healthcare start-ups.

My Journey in Histopathology

My professional journey began after graduating from King Edward Medical University, followed by postgraduate training in Histopathology at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. After completing the FRCPath examination, I became a Consultant Histopathologist and have since held senior positions at several teaching hospitals, including my current role as a Consultant Histopathologist and Cytopathologist at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Throughout my career, I have specialised in gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, and pancreatic pathology, with a sub-specialty interest in molecular diagnostics. I’ve also served as a clinical and educational supervisor, undergraduate examiner, and a member of the Royal College of Pathologists’ panel of assessors. My experience in both clinical service and academic training has helped shape my approach to pathology and deepened my appreciation for how digital and remote technologies can transform diagnostics.

Transforming Pathology with Technology

Medicine has changed dramatically over the past few decades. Where we once relied solely on paper records and local reporting systems, we now operate in a landscape dominated by digital pathology, artificial intelligence, and molecular testing.

From the rise of immunohistochemistry to the introduction of structured appraisal systems and centralised reporting models, we’ve witnessed a complete transformation in how pathology services are delivered. Today, digital histopathology and remote reporting are not just innovative—they’re essential to managing the growing demand and complexity of diagnostic services.

At Sobia Pathology Ltd, we believe that embracing these technologies is the key to bridging the gap caused by the global shortage of medical professionals, particularly histopathologists. By partnering with the private sector and academic institutions, we aim to create a more resilient and efficient diagnostic ecosystem.

Current Challenges and Future Outlook

We are at a critical point in the evolution of healthcare. The shortage of trained specialists is straining the system, and workloads continue to increase across the board. Despite these challenges, I believe that with the right tools and partnerships, we can build sustainable solutions.

At Sobia Pathology, our mission is to stay at the forefront of diagnostic innovation. We are committed to supporting both traditional and digital pathology services, expanding access to expert reporting, and fostering collaboration with institutions across the UK and beyond.

Let’s Connect

We’re always open to connecting with individuals and organisations who share our passion for pathology, technology, and progress. You can reach out to us at contact@sojahan.com—we aim to respond within five working days.
